SURFACE/Air        Duration: 6 days

  Day 01 Addis/Axum

Fly to Axum.  The tour will start by visiting the ancient city of Axum. This is the birthplace of Ethiopian civilization, and by the first century Axum was a major trading destination for exotic goods from Egypt, Rome, Nubia, Greece, Syria and India. The Holy Ark of the Covenant was brought here before the destruction of the temple, and Axum is reputed to be the second Jerusalem. Our visit in Axum includes: the stele of Queen of Sheba’s palace, the archeological museum, and Tsion Mariam Church where the original Ark of the Covenant is housed. Over night stay .
  Day 2: Rock-hewn churches of Lalibela

Transfer to the air-port and (fly from Addis?Axum aydel?) to the site where we find a concentration of some of Ethiopia’s most famous rock-hewn churches, referred to by many as “The Living Wonders of the World”. These churches are, and have been for at least 800 years, active Christian shrines, the spiritual center of the country’s religious life. The monolithic churches were carved out of 2,600-sq meters natural rock terrace in the 12-century AD by King Lalibela. Bete Medhane Alem, The largest monolithic rock-hewn church in the world, it measures 37.7ft in height, covers an area of almost 2625-sq meters and has walls that are up to six feet thick. A plain building supported by 36 pillars on the inside and another 36 pillars around the outside, Bete Medhane Alem was modeled after the original St. Mary Zion Church built by King Ezana in the 4th  century Also to be visited in the afternoon : Bete Gebriel, Bete Merkorios, Bete Amanuel, Bethlehem and Bete Aba Libanos. Over night stay in Hotel. 

  Day 3: Lalibela/Addis/ Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Lalibela air port for the flight to Addis Ababa. The rest of the day will be a city tour in Addis Ababa and include: the National Museum in which LUCY is found, the Ethnographical Museum and Merkato, the largest open market in Africa.

  Day 4: Sodore, Langano and Awassa.

Drive to Sodore with a stop over at the crater lakes of Debrezeit; visit Koka Dam and proceed to Nazareth. (Lunch on the route). Sodore is situated 126 kms south east of Addis and is a very popular resort for its volcanic mineral springs which bubble in several spots. Over night stay at  Sodore.
